Sitting Training

I have two 12 week old puppies that sit really well but once I back up to have them sit they follow me and wont sit until they are close again. I tried the training like you mentioned but they wont sit until close, probably because they want to be close to the treat so that the other puppy cant get it before they can. lol 

Any suggestions?

When training two puppies, we want to start training them first individually to a fluent level before adding the distraction of each other. Here is a guide:

Once you have trained to fluent level, you will also no longer be using any food lures so the problem of them trying to be close to the treat should be gone:

They also benefit from leaning not to try to snatch treats from each other, and that sometimes one may get a treat first, and vice-versa. I train this by having the dogs hold a sit/stay (trained individually first) and holding a treat, if one puppy breaks the sit stay, I will verbally mark with an "oops!" and walk away and then try again and again and again until both puppies learn to stay despite the distraction of my hand with a treat moving towards them.

Once they grasp the idea to stay put, I will then teach the pups that if one pup is given a treat first, the other will get it right after and vice-versa which also helps the pups learn better impulse control.
