Walter Kneip Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 This has been an ongoing issue with TAZ. He is now 2.5 years old He has been fine for the last few months. We had issues when he was a pup but nothing works anymore, he just refuses to walk. Old tricks that used to work do nothing. He seems to Zone out 100% as soon as he is outside our home. Only happens when we leave our place. If we drive even for 2 minutes and walk he is fine. Otherwise he is the best walking dog I have ever had. No pulling just easy to walk. But around the house forget it. Treats do not work, toys do not work, getting him excited does not work, talking does not work. We tried a few times with friends and other dogs, but now that does not work. He has no underlaying issues. He is part Shepperd, pitbull and mastiff. Very easy to play with dog with just love no anger at all. It took us probably about a year to get him to walk with us starting from home going up to a few blocks, not all that hard work is gone, forgotten. This is very hard to deal with. Please let me know what we can do. I love my little boy!
Adrienne Farricelli Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Hi, welcome to the forums, Can you please list the "old tricks' you have tried so far and that are no longer working? Has he seen the vet recently to rule out medical problems? From the picture it looks like Taz is wearing a pinch (prong) collar, have you tried to use a no-pull harness instead? Since when have you started using that collar? When did this behavior start? Please provide more info about his history (was he walking find when he was a young pup?) thanks
