EB Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 My dog is a Maltese and seems to bark at nothing. How do I get her to stop when I tell her to. Many thanks Eleanor MacLeod
Adrienne Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Hi Eleanor! Welcome to the forums! It would be important finding out whether there is a specific trigger for the barking so to ensure we tackle it correctly. We may need different strategies based on the underlying cause. I know it may look as if she is barking at nothing, but often there is something going on. Below is a guide on some common triggers, let me know if any of these sounds familiar, if not, please post more details such as What is she doing when she is barking? Where is she looking at exactly? At you? A spot in the wall? Out of the window? Where is she when it happens? When does it happen the most? Many dogs are more reactive at night. How old is she? s this a recent behavior or has she always barked? Thanks! https://www.braintraining4dogs.com/members/behavior-training/barking/nothing/
