Hello, and welcome to the forums,

We want our pups to be enthusiastic and run over to us, so that's good! It should feel like a fun game. Gobbling down the treat goes to show that you have chosen treats that your puppy likes and that can be successfully used as reinforcement. So I see no problems with this.

Are you trying to find ways for your pup to ingest the treat slower?

Are you showing the treat? It's ideal at some point to hide the treat out of view in your closed hand, treat bag or pocket.

What is your exact goal? Do you want to add some additional behavior when he comes to you, such as a sit? I know some dog owners like to train recalls with a frontal sit upon reaching them.

Let me know.

Thanks for the extra details.
