no pull harness for mini dachsie

Hello I’m new here! I saw in the supplies that you recommend a no-pull front harness which I originally tried with my very small mini dachshund. None of them seemed to fit right (tried 3 major brands). They didn’t seem to stay in the right place and looked like they restricted his gate. I sent them all back and have a regular top clip harness or a martingale collar (which I use with care). He is a major puller on walks haha (likes to lead the way). Any thoughts on this equipment? Try again with no pull harness in a different way or something else? Thanks!

With a mini doxie, it can be challenging at times getting an ideal fit due to their conformation of having short legs and those long backs.

Have you tried the Perfect Fit Harness?

It has been receiving rave reviews lately as it's non-restrictive. The company offers modular designs so that they can cater to all dogs of all shapes and sizes. If you contact them on Facebook, they are very responsive. I checked with them no too long ago and they offer assistance with fitting as long as one provides the dog's girth measurements and they also like to have a picture of the dog so to get an idea. 

Of course, you'll still need to spend time on training with this, but the advantage with a front-attachment harness like this is that it is designed in such a way that the legs have freedom and the throat is clear, and should the dog pull, it pivots the dog towards you giving you the opportunity for delivering reinforcement.

Wow I’m so glad I asked! I’ve tried every no pull harness out there but as you say all poorly designed for tiny dog. This one looks exactly right and of course designed in Europe (always better if you ask me!) PS are you from Italy? I saw your credentials. I lived in Italy for a while (e parlo Italiano) 😀 Love your course. We’ve done a fair amount of training and consider yours very well done and just what we need! Thank you. This harness has received rave reviews from dog trainers and veterinarians. They are very accommodating in helping you get the correct size, the name says it all!

Yes, I am from Italy. Well, I was really born in New York from Italian parents, then raised in Italy, then back to the USA after getting married and now back and forth between USA and Italy. 

Great to hear you lived in Italy for a while, now I know why you called your dog Fido!
