SHANNON LAMP Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I have a 9 month old Westie and a HUGE back yard with a doggie door and he absolutely loves it. I have tried to collar him but I am afraid he'll choke himself ... I then tried a harness and that was ugly too... Have I ruined him with the difference between the front and back??? HELP.
JMFS Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 Are you afraid he'll choke himself by getting caught on the doggie door? I'm not sure what you mean by "difference between the front and back." If we can get a few more specifics it will be easier to troubleshoot. :)
Adrienne Farricelli Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 West highland white terriers are a breed that can be prone to tracheal collapse so a harness may be a better choice for them for going on walks. What makes you afraid of him choking on the collar? Does he pull on walks? What went wrong with the harness? Are you attaching the leash to the front or the back of the harness? Yes, more details will be very helpful!
