Hi there. My dog Rico - 11 lbs, 5.5 year old Chihuahua mix - is always barking at the big dogs we come across on our walks. Allow me to set the scene. We’re walking and a large dog and owner approaches. Rico gets a bit riled up when he sees the dog - fur up and on high alert - but no barking. It’s when I stop to say hello and either pet the other dog, or lord forbid, give said dog a treat. Then it’s a non stop bark fest until we walk away. Is it fear? Jealousy? Just being a pain? And how to stop this? I really don’t have access to larger dogs for us to practice with, so that’s out. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
