Yep , will look at this as an option, but shes not incontinent at night , in fact the very opposite holds on for about 8 hours nad when on 1st walk of ady ,is in no hurry r=to pee.

Thats a great help. she is unspeyed, and as you say she is probably markin her territory than peeing . Lead training has adapted well , a wee bit of aggression to male dogs sniffining inappropriately , snarling bared teeth , but no blood , and plenty of noise, amybe 1x inhte past month. My big worry is ,staight out ot bed in morning , 6am ( no coffe ) we head outhe the door , and no wees for 100yds or moe , and then a trickle,no poohs till mid morning work thats fine , but to me not natural. I have only owned male dogs , peeing on everthing was normal , butexpected my old girl to be more refined and lady like .She marks I guess everyi 20m or so sometimes up to 50m but thats why we go through so many " good girl go pee " treats. Initial idea is foor her to go pee at beginning of walk on grass berm, and tehna leasurely stretch the muscles inthe morning and back for a derserved coffee and doggie treat . Hi , I have recently taken in a "Rescue Dog ", not so much abused but neglected , a farm dog taken to town ,and chained to kennel. She is an 8 yo Jack Russell ,was never on a lead , doesn't understand sit , great recall , no interest in cats , so no prey drive .Understands Stand and not much more ,doesn't know what toys are for, treats , no clues. She has gone from a total outside dog to an apartment dweller , she is walked at 6am ( 1st walk)before coffee even , another around 10am , sometimes at lunch time , a really long one inthe park or a street walk , we sometime do over 15 km and even over 20 km,with a final walk around 930 at night . I have seen and it was portrayed as an easy train , to get potty on command . Tried for 2 days constant , walking she would stop for a pee , finished peeing "good girl", reward .This mght happen up to 50 times on walks . What I am looking for is to get her to pee at the start of the first morning walk , take the same route every morning stop at same grassey strip ideal for first pee , not interested carry on , sniffing all the way finally pees , but not much . I suspect she must be peeing in the aprtment , but no sign of hte evidence .How on earth does she hold on so long .She has a pee onthe late walk but not generally more than an eg cup full. Hi Thanks for the prompt reply , one thing I forgot to mention is , we are in Tauranga New Zealand , in hte South Pacific , so heading into winter , although today is fine and sunny with a temperature of around 70F or to us 20C. With the new harness it is way less of a performance for me to put on , I struggled to put it on , Pip was very tolerant of this and sat patiently waiting for the idiot owner put the harness on , I usually gave up and threw it at my partner to do. One thing with Pip he is the most tolerant dog I have very come across, has no resource guarding issues , will let you take food from his mouth , no tug toys , just gives in. The name test was done to see if he responded to his name, while standing quietly , with no real distractions , but was out side at local school , no kids around. With coming to his name , will generally ignore being called by name, usually have to find him often asleep somewhere or plying with his toys. At the park and on road walks Pip seems well socialized ,more so than other older dogs , tail is always igging, being a Pup ,f trouble he rolls on his belly in submission , this is very infrequent, and seems to bounce back with renewed vigour. He has always been lazy but can be very fast given enough motivation. He is off to the vet this week to be fixed , not sure I wanted to do this but all advice is for it, I would have liked to bred with him , he is pedigree , but I am a lone voice , he has no say. Today I got his harness on made silly noises etc , big treats etc, harness , he headed for the door and around the back to avoid the lead, right , " I am going for a walk by myself " he immediately came over to me , fastened the lead and off we went , was perfect all 2,5K, so i suspect , it had been turned into a game , of me catch him and them the walk .Will try again this after noon and see what happens. I think my main concern is the recognition of name and the lack of recognition of it Cheers Murray

Over the years I have had a few dogs , the latest is a Mini Schnauzer ,Male and now around 8months old. I see Pip twice per day , morning and late afternoon .In total we do around 5-6 kms per day . Mornings are a road walk on a short leash and the afternoon one is on a longer leash to the local school , or to the Doggie Park where I use 6 metre leash. All walks are done using a harness. The first problem we encounter and only recently is , rather than getting excited to be going for a walk he actively tries to avoid , by heading out the kitchen door and ot responding to any encouraging, would prefer to chase the cat. When going for the walk I take loads of meaty treats, Possum,( a local pest to the environment, made into a dog roll) Lambs liver or beef or chicken jerky. He has always bee a nervous dog , and for the first week we had him , wouldn't leave the section , came right with help of local trainer .The trainer did a test at about 16 weeks , on name recognition , only 40% score. Seems to have gotten worse. On the walks I have rewarded him for walking beside me and ever time le looks to see where I am ,he is rewarded. I was told this will pay for itself in future, not seen any sign so far . I don't want a dog to do circus tricks , just one that has good manners , and comes when called. So the good points , walks well on short lead , not bad on long lead. Will sit sometimes, trying to get ham to stand at crossroads and to follow my lead in crossing. Bad Points , doing a disappearing act when the harness appears , this is only recent , and only started after I purchased a larger one . Not motivated by much , sits on front seat of ute on way to park , once there , happy to sit there and not get out ,he is lifted into the ute (must be over 10Kgs),once out of ute , very much a sniffer, seagulls are fair game ,and small sparrows likewise, not that he can catch one. Loves water , goes out of way to get wet. He gives the impression of being laziest dog on the planet , would happily watch Netflix with the girlfriend . So no real major problem just niggles , suggestions welcomed.
