I am having exactly this same problem with my 9 month old Airedale. Just subscribed to the course. Started the targeting exercise. While he picked that up immediately he also figured out at the same time there were treats in the other hand behind my back. Consequently his focus went to that hand immediately. I will try your suggestions.
