i have already done focus training where i get my puppy to look at me he fine in the house but not when i start train i have him sit in front of me and he looks up at me and looks me in the eye i use the word look at me and he looks at me but haven't tried it outside because if my wife is there he always look to her because shes always feeding him kibble so he associate my wife as being kind not that i am not but i sometimes shout at him for misbehaving any when we are out if i stop and the wife carries on he look for and try and pull me towards her also when i go to puppy classes my wife never comes in with me as she find she will be a big distraction but as i say i am doing the training he alway obey my commands in training but i have yet to try it in different locations yet.

Hi Adrienne The Targeting how often should i do it he you how to touch the target stick instead of saying target i say touch should i change that to target.

Hi Adrienne Thank for the tips and ideas will put them into practice one other thing he does when put the lead on he goes to bite the lead and jumps up on me this happen when I take him to potty outside I don't know if this is harnonal and he is still teething or he has belly ache from wanting a poo or frustration when he sees the lead when he in that mood he tends to grab it and growl but I have noticed wants he has had a poo he is a little bit calmer, when I am training him in the morning he is fine he just has these mad moments.

There's only me doing the training as the wife is working most of the time I do have a watch with a stopwatch function so will have to see how it goes.

I have a 5 month old border collie who sometimes goes to bite my arm he doesn't do this everytime he will sometimes try to bite me when i go to put his lead on which a front leader he is in his crate except for potty play and training he doesn't get to go for walks much mainly because I don't drive and the wife does and she works shifts the park is a 30 minute walk so it's to far for him to walk also when we do get chance the weather is bad I play fetch and tug with once or twice a day he doesn't sleep much during the day.

If your using a stop watch and you have your target stick and clicker in one hand and treats in the other how do you hold and stop and start it.

He is a border collie and i read in one of your archives that herding dogs like grab and nip because that is what they do with sheep does he think i am a sheep even though I train him he doesn't do it to the wife also he goes to mount me he will grab my leg and try to climb up and if I am on all fours with my back to him he mount me and gripping with his front paws sometimes he will get bite when try to put his lead on.

I am just starting targeting how to you know long it takes do you count or use a stop watch.

Has anyone had their 5month old puppy jump up and Grab with its Front paws in a vice like grip and Grabbing hold of your arm with his mouth and when I am leading him outside he is still holding on untill he stop he also has a bit at the lead.
