flo.jorgensen Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Hi everyone! I am having issues getting my dog, Kitty, to train. She only seems to be interested in the treats. We have been working on the first lesson "Target" and after 2-3 tries she lays down and refuses to train anymore. She only wants the treats. Because of this we have only progressed through her touching her nose to my hand and learning the verbal command of Target. Some info on Kitty: She is 3.5 years and a mix of some kind, the shelter wasn't really sure. Any thoughts or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Usually, dogs who are too eager to get the treats don't lie down, they rather stay up and keep on trying to get access to the treat bag or treats and have a hard time focusing on the training at task. Perhaps she is sort of going on strike or giving up? Where do you keep the treats when training her to target?
